In a church decorated with frescos, two monks are singing Gregorian chants.
The liturgical chant of the Catholic Church, called Gregorian chant, is related with the Jewish synagogal chant, as well as with the tonalities and the rhythms of Graeco-Roman music.

St Gregory the Great gathered most of the melodies that were already sung before his own pontificate and then had them revised and modified. The Gregorian chant is believed to help feeling the presence of God. Both the singer and the listener are carried away by the sounds and the lyrics towards a mysterious presence that dwells in their heart of hearts.
